Cosmographia Mod Journal

This is an event page that states what the event for the current month is, as relayed to characters by the temple heart gem. It also contains a record of past monthly events and their effects on the setting.

Summary An infestation of mole-like creatures overran Waverly Bay! They stole shiny trinkets, caused property damage, and infected the humans with a flu-like disease. Needless to say, the townspeople weren't happy, and some even came forward to interact with the Gems as rescue efforts were underway. The neighborhood jeweler asked for help clearing out her ransacked store, the junkyard owner only wanted some peace, and the deputy mayor tried his best to keep the situation under control. After the Gems had killed off most of the moles, a sudden energy blast from underground blocked their powers for a few days! This was merely an attempt to slow them down from finding the source of the problem...

After a lot of teamwork and excavating, eventually the Gems found the lair of the "Queen"; a disgusting, rat-like gem beast that controlled an army of minions to collect shiny objects for her nest. After a long and arduous battle, the Queen was poofed and bubbled, her moles vanished, and many of the stolen items were retrieved from underground.

Summary: As the sun goes down and a chill fills the air, you may suddenly encounter the Griffon that was rescued recently. It seemed harmless and solitary, but right now it's acting in such a way as to get your attention!

Ultimately the Griffon guides you to the beach and starts to dig. If you try to leave, it will squawk and fussily stop digging to try and get you to stay. Hmm, maybe you should help the creature? If you do, you might find something interesting buried in the sand... and end up with a familiar item from home!

Summary: A strange Griffon has been freed from a crystal! It can't communicate properly with others, but it seems to be able to let people know how its feeling. So far, it seems harmless and somewhat confused. It's better to let it get its bearings first before expecting much more from it.

Summary: After a few days of exploring the temple, a new mysterious door was found! But it won't open easily, oh no. You need to PROVE YOUR FRIENDSHIP to it. Thus the heart gem tasked everyone with social bingo!

When the door finally opened, it led to a beautiful garden. Yet... no one has received back any powers just yet. Weird. Perhaps there's more to it than meets the eye?

... which it turns out there is! Once the puzzle of the garden is solved, it lead to an underground room where there were a variety of creatures trapped in crystals. All were cold except one, which housed a Griffon. Touching the crystal led to people feeling exhausted, but given enough disturbances, the Griffon is freed! And everyone in Waverley Bay received the power of EMPATHY (or, perhaps something a little different depending on their inclinations.)

Summary: In the beginning there was a strange meteor shower, whereby the meteorites were all attracted to one another. When collecting meteorites came to an end, they all fused together to create one hell of a boss fight! When the golem was defeated, all gems (then and in the future) absorbed its power... thus unlocking the ability to fuse together to create a bigger, badder gem!

Drops from Cosmographia should be as drama-free as players want, both on the IC and OOC end of the spectrum. In general we recommend guilt-free drops of some kind, so please be kind to your CR when you make them! We ourselves have endeavored to make dropping simple!

If you want to specify how your character has dropped, there are a few methods:

☆ The default drop: Your character leaves the world of Cosmographia. While they may have purposefully been looking for an exit, this drop is reminiscent of how they came: There was simply, suddenly, a hole made for them. For this reason, your characters can only return from whence they came! No world hopping is enabled.

☆ Or they could just simply be lost in the temple. Like an extended hiatus!

☆ For a slightly more dramatic and traumatic option, your character could have reverted to gem form for a while in order to recuperate. Again, like an extended hiatus.

Cosmographia is a game like many others, and needs its player base to being active and present to keep it running at its best. We want to encourage players to branch out and form new CR and truly engage with the game and its community. Due to this there will be a monthly activity check. Activity check posts go up on cosmoooc at the last week of every month (for example, if October 1st is a Thursday, then September's AC post will go up a week prior on Thursday, September 24th). AC is completed simply by commenting to the AC post with a link to a thread which meets the AC requirements. 

( ACTIVITY CHECK REQUIREMENTS )

If you are newly apped for the month, you still do not need to provide proof of activity, and are NOT be required to respond to the AC post for that month.

If you are unable to make a activity check for a month, you will be idled without warning. However, on the 1st of every month the mods will post to cosmoooc with a list of characters we could not find activity for on the last AC post! You must check this post even if you responded to the AC post. It is only if a character is listed and no one checks in that they will be idled. Characters who turned in their activity may still be listed for failing AC or due to administrative error, so it’s important to always check to avoid accidentally getting idled.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

We understand that life is busy, and you have other commitments to boot. We do want want people to play more than what the are comfortable with, or get stressed out if they're simply not feeling it. Therefore activity is kept at what we consider fair requirements to pass. You may be waived from an activity check if you have gone on hiatus. 

In the case of extenuating circumstances, such as a family emergency or computer issues, exceptions will also be made. 

Keep in mind that excessively hiatusing may also be potential grounds for idling. If there are consistently taking large gaps between play (such as going tree weeks without tagging out), we reserve the right to discuss your low activity with you, which may result in idling. 

If you think you may not be able to commit to this AC, remember that picking up characters after dropping/idling is not a painful process at Cosmographia! Just fill out the reapp form here.
